Dag 16

All you need is love.

Day 8

One week in Auroville has already past! The time flies... As you already may have noticed, I really like this place. Still dont like the job, the computer just draws out my energy, and I have to sit there for about four hours a day... But cant quit now, or i could but wouldnt really feel fair. Am bathing in my own sweat here, might sound absurd for you guys in the cold. But are on my way to workout now, so doesnt matter!

there is not a lot of animal rights organisations in India compared to the amount of people, but there is PETA at least! They have done a really good job here. Check them out: http://www.petaindia.com/. If you think that leather is just a waste product from the meatindustri- think again. India has the biggest export of leather in the world, and lots of it comes from cows, their history of being sacred is just history. It is also common that stray dogs are captured and killed for leather, but the mark tho clothing with cow, sheep or goat because people wouldnt buy it otherwise. So, India it not the place to be an animal. (Is there somewhere that you would be safe as an animal?)

Day 6

Hi!:D Happy, happy happy happy! Yesterday we went to the festival at Sadhana forest, a community that plants trees (deforestation). When it was founded seven years ago, there was no trees their at all, but now the area is full of beautiful tropical forest. Their way of living is simple, but they use solar-panels for energy, and also exercisbikes connected to the power. Why pay lots of money for the gym when you can get a workout and green power for no cost at all? All of the food is vegan, and they do yoga, meditation, capoeira, african dance, etc... i wanna live their! And I can, anyone can move in and work, and you pay very little for food. But I can't do it at the same time as Im working at Sharan, so are going to do this at least till the end of January. But can always go back and hang out with all the wonderful people! What if everyone lived like this! (Yeah, movie tip- "La belle verte". Its great).
Check it out: http://www.sadhanaforest.org/
Even the kids are nice at Sadhana! Imagine that...

Gotta work now. Take care! (And my email doesn't work, for those it concerns)

Day 3

Its raining! Thought the monsunseason was over, but guess not... They say the climate changes have effected the weather down here too this year, but cant complain... Its still warm and cozy! Wasn't really my kind of morning today, we went up early for yoga and arrived at this really beautiful house, surrounded by a park with flowers and big trees and water, so peaceful. And then we walk in, and the lady tells us that one class costs 600 rupies (about 100 sek). Thats even expensive in Sweden! Non of us could afford that, so we decided to go to Matrimandir, this beautiful golden building in the middle of Auroville, where everything started. After a long drive, it was hard to find, we finally see it in the distance. But at the gates they tell us that were not welcome, and we need a pass even to go into the park. Nothing to do but to go back, you need a couple of days to get a pass. There not that welcoming of tourists here, but I can understand it. They want people to understand the visions and meaning of Auroville before you go into the most "sacred" (it isnt religious) part of it. So, i went back to the office to do some work. Yesterday we learned how to make nice vegan cheese on a cashew-nut and tofu base, I will be in charge of making them and selling them at the market on saturdays.
Yeah right, i couldnt sleep tonight so i made a budget. Looks like i can do without studying! (Ive been planning on studying on a distance from Sweden to get some money, and learn, of course...). But Nandita says i can live there for free after this month, and a already have a bike so dont have to rent one. Made a pro's and con's list:
Pro's not studying:I get to enjoy my stay fully. There will be non "should have" anxiety. And I wont do something that i dont wanna do. Con's: Less money. No points for later studies. No security when I get home. Yeah, doesn't look like Im gonna study...
Hope you all are doing ok back home in the cold! Feels kind of weird writing in english to swedish people, , men det ser sa konstigt ut utan a, a och o... Oops, power went out again, but the generator kicks in so its ok. Hmm, well I guess thats it for now. Have to get a memory-card reader, cant upload pictures just yet. But I will! This is Matrimandir but the way... Someday, I will get in there. When Im ready:)

Day 2

My first work day, sitting by a computer and adjusting a database... Not really what Id hopes for, but gonna do some other stuff to. Getting used to be being starred at, as a western you really stand out, but most people are friendly. Going to this festival in the forest on friday with dancing, drums, yoga, etc... It goes on all day, and its for free! And the food is vegan.
About animal rights, there are a lot of vegetarian food here but a lot of chicken to, and lots of milk and cheese. And there are goats and cows chained so they can hardly move.... But where working on it! Sharan stands for Sanctuary for health and reconnection to animals and nature, like to organization but not my job right now...
Sending some warmth back to sweden!

Dag 1

Have no idea if its possible to adjust the keyboard, going crazy writing without swedish symbols so it will be in english...

Ok, first morning in Auroville, India. So far the country actually looks like i imagined. There are cows everywhere, but they seem to feel ok, no ribs to be seen and no visible damages. The coolaste animal ever, just lying next to the the road and chilling, dispite if the crazy traffic, that kept me awake for the three hour ride from the airport. The honk is a drivers best friend here... The dogs are everywhere to, and people. Everything is everywhere, but its an organized chaos. It flows in the same rhytm.
Feels really good to be here, the flight was sooo long, even though i slept for most of it. Missed giving the taxidriver a tip, kind of embarrassing...
So I arrived at midnight on sunday, and met my room mate Madeleine, who works at Sharan to. Monday we spent at the beach, visiting Sharan and meeting Nandita, driving around on her motorcykle and dancing this really spaced out but fun astrology dance. And catching spiders in our kitchen... The biggest one Ive ever seen, but not dangerous.

Off we go!

(GAAH!)
